In honor of childhood cancer awareness month, I wanted to take a moment to promote this year's fundraising partner the Sam Day Foundation.
I first met founder Lorna Day at the very beginning of my cancer journey and I very vividly remember her telling me that though “cancer is the club that no one wants to be a part of, once you're in it, you're glad you're not alone.” She was right. Though company may not be able to cure the disease, it can cure the loneliness.
Since meeting Lorna, we've become great friends and I've had the honor and privilege of hearing countless stories about her late son Sam. Though I never got to meet him, I feel a sense of closeness with Sam that was solidified when I realized that ‘forget me not’ is exactly 37 minutes long…Sam's favorite number, He called it the “forgotten number, just like how childhood cancer is the forgotten cancer"
After Sam passed, Lorna made it her life's mission to make the world a better place for kids with cancer. She's raised thousands of dollars every year that go entirely towards childhood cancer research and I'm so excited to have Sam Day Foundation as my fundraising partner this year.
On the home page of my site, there is a donation option. All proceeds go towards pediatric cancer research (50% to SDF and 50% to “Levi” and his cause.)
If you're willing and able and whether it's through my page or through SDF directly, please consider donating in honor of Sam. He was incredibly special and I know he would want there to be a brighter future for kids with cancer.
All My Love,
Sabs
